A new arrival for a week in Ziggy Startdust owned by Trevor and Ruth Hawkins. A very tallented and stunning grey mare who has Gribaldi and Ferro as grandparents! She has come to us for a flying visit from Paul Fielders, and is one to look out for in the future on the Dressage and Eventing fields.
Sunday 11th October 2009 - orange has gained her 3* qualification. Jail Breaker comes home.
A very good week was had at Weston Park, and a nice end to the season. Orange (Delphy Tango) jumed her socks of around the Advanced track at Weston in the 2* gaining some valuable experience and showing lots of scope for next season. She also done a good test of 57.9, and 2 down in the sj which left her in about 25th place, but a very encourging performance. Lots to look forward to next season on that effot. Also Jail breaker came back with me from Weston for some holiday and winter schooling. So very nice to be able to have 2 horses on the lorry that are both qualified for 3* events next season. Both horses are now going to be aimed at Houghton Hall 2* earlier in next season.
Wednesday 7th October 2009 - Orange of to Weston Park
All systems go. Bags and lorry packed ready for the off, and some afternoon trot ups.
Saturday 3rd October 2009 - Of to Paul fielders for the weekend
Orange and me have some last minute dr fine tunning before Weston park over the weekend, and where's Wally and julie also coming along for some training as well. A lot of hard work was done by all, with both horses looking and going well. Also new owner Alec Swan, Tracey and there family came over to watch the horses work. It was lovely to see them, and was enjoyed by them all. There was even a quick chance to ride Ziggy, a very nice youngster before i came home on Sunday.
Thursday 1st October 2009 - Of to Barrett Watsons
Orange has a quick trip over to Barretts, and we are both put throught are sj paces before Weston.

Tuesday 29th September 2009 - Ian Woodhead's for some dressage
Of to ian's for some dressage touch up lessons. He is very pleased, and will be at Weston Park horse trials for some last minute advice. few!
Saturday 19th September 2009 - Of to the North Norfolk coast, and Burnham Market.
The weather was v good to us, but some much needed rain is in need as the going is so firrm.
It was decided to run Delphy Tango in the intermediate dressage only, in which she done a good test of 29.1. I didnt want to run the risk of jaring her up before Weston Park. Also Where's Wally only done the dressage and sj in the BE90. The Team at Burnham done a good job with the ground, and worked hard to get it to the best they could. But you sadley cant beat the weather. Also new owner Alec Swan came over to Burnham Market to meet me and some of the team, as this is his local event. We were also kindly invited to stable over at there home, and both horses and people were watered, fed and looked after very well by Alec and his partner Tracey.
Wednesday 16th September 2009 - Delphy Tango finishes 3rd at Purston Manor
Orange has a good run at purston finishing 3rd in the Intermediate Novice. It was a good pre Weston run with a dressage of 28.6, clear xc, and one down sj.
Saturday 12th September 2009 - Photo shoot weekend. CHECK OUT THE FAB PICS UNDER THE NEWS PAGE LINK
A great weekend of sun, pimms, mayhem, and fun. It has to of been one of the best none competeing weekends ever had by all. Ian Piper from 'Equine IT 'came down and done two days of photo shoots of all the owners and there horses, plus a few extras. It was a great team building excercise, as alot of the owners never get to meet each other. Plus a great chance for owners to get some lovely pictures of them and there horses thanks to Ian. There was also a yard party on the Saturday evening at the pub across the road, which is sadley owner by one of the horse owners, and has seem to of become the extended club house! I belive there might of been a lock in!! So a few sore heads on the Sunday morning!!! Not me of course, i was up bright an early!!!!!!!!
Wednesday 2nd September 2009 - George arrives
New arrival in Georgie Boy, who has come to give one of our young riders on the yard Katie Hunter a helping hand into the world of eventing. So watch out for them.
Tuesday 1st September 2009 - Woodacers here for the week
Woodacers of Newmarket are with us for a week to come and do some more fencing and maintenance. So looking forward to seeing that being done, and they do a first class job as normal.
Sunday 30th August 2009 - Rob lumb Clinic
Busy day on the yard, but all horses and riders seem to work well, and Rob is pleased.
Wednesday 26th August 2009 - Jail Breaker finishes 15th at Blair in the 2*
Robbie had a fantastic event at Blair Castle despite the rain and the mud to pull of a top performance to finish 15th. He done a dressage of 54.8, and jumped a double clear, making him one of the top 7 year olds of the year, and a fantastic way to finish his season. His effots were not unnoticed with offers to by him coming from overseas. He has also gained his 3* qualification, so might be aimed at Blenheim next season.
Wednesday 19th August 2009 - Paul Fielder calls in, and BBQ time
Paul calls in on his way by the yard in the evening to say hello to his old ride Utzon, and give him a few mints. It was then time for a last minute yard BBQ as the weather was so hot. And a great evening was had by all.
Thursday 13th August 2009 - Team outing to Aston - Le - Walls
jail Breaker finishes 6th in the intermediate, so a good pre Blair run for him. Delphy Tango finishes 2nd in the open Novice. Wouldknot finishes 10th in the BE100. And Where's Wally finishes midfield, but a good run from him with just a small green mistake xc. So on the whole, a very good event at Aston.
Wednesday 5th August 2009 - Where's Wally is coming good!
Wally and Julie have had a great month in July. They finished 2nd in both the prelim and novice sections at the British Dressage event at Nortons Heath recently. Prior to this they finished 17th at Great Witchingham Horse Trials in the BE 100 section. We took Wally and Orange schooling to Wittering Grange, near Peterbrough and both went really well which was pleasing. Hopefully it will all continue in the same vein this month
Wednesday 5th August 2009 - Orange's day out to Knaptof
I took Orange (Delphy Tango) with Sarah to Knaptof to compete in her first 2* competition. It has poured down the day before so we did leave with some trepidation that the event would even be on. However, we had a good dressage score completing with 53.8%, and gaining a mark of 9 in one element. We had just 4 faults show jumping and then on speaking to some senior riders, I withdrew her from the cross country phase. It was just too tricky going to risk it. We now look forward to Aston-le-Walls in a couple of weeks and aim to complete there.
Saturday 1st August 2009 - Sarah and Wouldknot - successful outings!
Sarah and Wouldknot have been out quite a few times last month. Firstly they took a trip to Buckminster Park and competed in the Open Novice event. They gained 31.9% dressage, had 12 show jumping faults and a clear cross country round. Sarah was pleased with two of the results but obviously a little disapointed with their show jumping round.
She then came with me to Knaptof at the end of the month where she competed in the Open Novice event again. She had a 34% dressage score, 4 show jumping faults and then retired cross country. The ground was very slippery and deep in some places, so she made the right decision after Woody slipped badly into one fence. The rain had poured down prior to the day and we were lucky to get a run at all.
Saturday 11th July 2009 - Robbie's day out at Barbury Castle
Set in fantastic surroundings and grounds, Robbie had a good day out today finishing about 11th in the Open Novice Section. He dropped down a level just to have an easy run before Gatcombe next month. His dressage score was 25, clear cross country and 2 down show-jumping - bit too relaxed! We are now all looking forward to Gatcombe where he runs in the Novice Championship and we expect him to be very competitive.
Sunday 5th July 2009 - Rob Lumb's latest clinic
Rob popped up to Keeble Cottage on Sunday and gave one of his very informative clinics. Naomi took part with Utzon - her dressage expert and worked on half-passes and changes. Utzon is brilliant at all of this, but it really benefits Naomi to have an experienced horse to ride as it ables her to concentrate on the more advanced movements which fine-turns her as a rider when returning to less experienced horses.
Julie and Where's Wally and Sarah and Charlie also took part. Julie is currently working with Wally to gain more engagement behind. Sarah and Charlie worked on their canter with the aim of becoming more engaged and more uphill.
It was a full clinic with everyone working on their own areas.
Rob is currently coming up to Keeble Cottage every 2nd weekend until 2010. So if you are interested, please contact Jane Young via the Keeble Cottage page
Saturday 4th July 2009 - Naomi and Orange work with Paul Fielder
Paul came up to the yard this evening to give Naomi and Orange a lecture and drilling! 'Can do better' was on the report!
On the agenda was suppleness (of both!) and general important basics - straightness, engagement.
Paul returns to see if anything has improved at all on Monday 6th July! Watch this space
Saturday 20th June 2009 - Jail Breaker goes to Catton Park
Following on from his success in Ireland, Robbie did not have quite the same day at Catton Park. He did a very nice dressage test and had only one down showjumping, however he had a run-out at a skinny brush fence coming out of a water complex. Very uncharacteristic and he later schooled at the same fence at Sommerford Park two days later brilliantly. Hannah says "Just one of life's horse mysteries!"
Sunday 7th June 2009 - HOLIDAY TIME
- All off to Spain for a few days with Major Massey's - so all quiet at the yard! Great time had by all - with the hot tub being a must!
Saturday 6th June 2009 - Delphy Tango goes to Little Downham
Naomi and Orange entered the Intermediate Section at Little Downham and it was a funny one! Naomi had already decided not to go cross-country as she felt Orange just needed an easy day after Houghton and also the ground was really firm. Orange did a fab dressage finishing on the same score as Mark Todd who we followed (in awe!). It was reported by Paul (Naomi's partner) that she did a better test than the bloke that went in front of her!!
Showjumping was not quite up to standard for Orange as she was a little flat. Luckily we have now hopefully found why and this will be covered in Naomi's next East Anglia Rider diary.
Wednesday 3rd June 2009 - Ian Olding's Memorial Service
We took a trip to Sommerford Park, Cheshire with Barrett Watson, Ian's other half to attend his memorial service. Its was extremely well attended with over 300 people at the service and around 500 people at the event afterwards. It was held in true Ian style, with an Irish band and disco - and of course, a bar. A slide show of Ian throughout his eventing career brought tears to the eyes of many but it really was a celebration of his very colourful life.
Sunday 31st May 2009 - Jail Breaker goes over the water to Ireland
Hannah and Robbie took a trip to Tattersall's in Ireland and took part in the CCI* with a great result. They finished 3rd out over 150 competitors and just below William Fox-Pitt and beating Andrew Nicholson. Robbie finished with a score of a dressage score of 48.5 and after jumping a double clear, finished on a final score of 49.30. The showjumping proved to be very difficult and Robbie was one of the few to jump clear and inside the time.
Tuesday 26th May 2009 - Houghton Hall International CCI
Naomi and Delphy Tango took the short trip to the recent Houghton Hall International. Over 3 days of stunning weather, they competed in their 1st CC1* this year. Dressage went well with a very decent score and this was followed by a clear cross country round. At this point, the scores were very close for the top twenty horses and the pair lay around 19th. The final day was not quite so productive with two fences down - very uncharacteristic for both of them! All in all, a good time was had - with yet another valuable learning experience under their belts. Take a look at the gallery to see recent photos.
Tuesday 26th May 2009 - East Anglian Rider - Rider of the Month Diary
Naomi was approached by East Anglian Rider to become their 'Rider of the Month' and keep a diary for the next six months. Follow her news on www.eastangliarider.co.uk via the online magazine or pick up the magazine in local outlets throughout East Anglia.
Sunday 26th April 2009 - Julie and 'Where's Wally' have their first BE outing of the season
and they were 8th! Julie and Wally had a good day out finishing on a dressage score of 34, 4 faults show jumping and clear XC.
Sunday 26th April 2009 - Sad news today...
We are all very saddened to hear of the death of Ian Olding at Belton yesterday in the advanced section. He has been a loyal friend and great travelling companion to Naomi and many others. He will be best remembered for his outstanding horsemanship and ability to light up any room and bring a smile to whom ever he encountered. He will also be sadly missed as a part-owner of Jail Breaker who we will hope will go on to do him proud.
Saturday 25th April 2009 - Jail Breaker and Delphy Tango have great days out at Belton and Hambleden
Jail Breaker and Hannah Bate finished 7th in the Intermediate Futurity Section at Belton today with a score of 30.5 dressage and double clear jumping. They were also rated 2nd best out of the 7yr olds competing. Hannah commented. "Jail Breaker has come on a lot since Weston Park and is looking very promising."
Delphy Tango and Naomi had a good outing at Hambleden in the Novice Regional Finals. They finished mid-division with two good jumping rounds but were a little disappointed with the dressage score they were give. Naomi said. "I was pleased with the test but felt the comments and marks were a little harsh even though we scored a respectable 36!"
Wednesday 22nd April 2009 - Sarah and Argent win and placed at Keyso BD
Sarah Gowing and her horse Argent won today at Keyso Equestrian Centre in the Prelim Open Section with a score of 62.8%. They were also placed in the Novice Restricted Section with a score of 62%. Well done them.....
Thursday 9th April 2009 - Delphy Tango finishes fifth at Burnham Market
Top day out! Orange completed her first competition of the year with ease and finished fifth in her section of the Novice at Burnham Market. She completed the dressage with a score of 30.5, with a clear showjumping and cross country. With 14 time faults cross country as Naomi felt a reasonably steady round first time out was sensible, she gained 2 points.
Sunday 5th April 2009 - Impressive Intermediate debut today for Jail Breaker at Weston Park
Jail Breaker looked really impressive today in his first upgrade to intermediate level, scoring 33.6 for dressage, 8 faults in the showjumping and a clear cross country round. This was the first time for him at this level and his only faults came from green mistakes. However, he was very much the talking horse and much praised for his efforts and ability. His next venture is the Futurity Intermediate (7 yrs only) at Belton in a couple of weeks.
Hannah had a good day with her other horse, Vigo, another 7 yr old having his first Intermediate outing. He, too finished impressively and she was very pleased with his efforts.
Two with a big future!
Saturday 4th April 2009 - Double Clear for Delphy Tango
Orange scored a double clear and third place at Manor Farm BSJA in the 1.10m Open today in her pre-Burnham Market warm up.
Monday 23rd March 2009 - Jail Breaker wins...
Jail Breaker and Hannah Bate win at Lincoln.
With a total score of 25.5 for dressage, Jail Breaker gained 6 points over the weekend at Lincoln Event. This was his 2nd outing of the season in the Novice Section.
Monday 16th March 2009 - Success for first timers
Loads of outing this weekend for everyone!
Sarah and Wouldknot finished 10th in the Pre-novice section at Oadsby last weekend on Sunday. On Saturday she and her other horse, Argent, gained their first BD points with a score of 62.5% and finishing 5th in the Novice section at Manor Farm. On her first outing at Isleham the weekend before Sarah finished 5th in Open Pre-Novice event with Wouldknot
Julie Guest with Where's Wally finished 3rd in the Preliminary section with 66.3% and 2nd in the Novice gaining 66.1%.
